in reply to: Daily Check In – Status at the State Capital #960
Thank you for the updates
in reply to: Don’t use amazon #946I have also started searching other places than amazon for stuff. Found things cheaper.
in reply to: New Forum for ham operators and those who want to be #912Thank You
in reply to: New Forum for ham operators and those who want to be #773Just to say what we all know already. We cannot transmit on any ham radio without the government approval (the license), it is a violation of law. I have heard, but have not confirmed, that in an emergency that rule is void.
That being said, listening is fine. I live in Nevada and have found a local weather broadcast on 162.550Mhz.
I want to be able to go HF so communication out of area is possible. I am to close to power lines to run a mast to support a high antenna and am still bouncing ideas in my head for where to place an HF antenna.
As I said earlier, I am still working to get my ham license along with other projects I am working on.
in reply to: Do’s and Don’ts #739Are there other posting rules? I have, on two occasions, tried to make a post that contained several links and they failed to post. several attempts each time.
-Is there a prohibition on links?
-Is one link OK, but 2 or more is bad?
-Does a Mod need to approve the post because of the links? (checking the link to keep the garbage out and reliance to the subject intact?)I took a shower this week…..lol
Cool, a non-mod can create a topic….kind of.
I have tried to make a post on how to check your VPN and it will not post. does this mean it needs to be approved by a moderator because of multiple links? or something else?
This is the second time I have tried to make a post with several links and it does not post. What are the rules for this?
in reply to: Volunteers needed #723I would be willing to moderate an “On line security” thread. The thread would discuss browsers, VPN’s, usernames selections to separate your conservative online presence from your “regular” online presence. How to make a more secure PW.
Lets face it, China Joe will probably make it to the white house. With house members talking about tracking down Trump supporters, I am sure some are concerned about being tracked online.
in reply to: Forum suggestions #702I would be willing to Moderate this topic.
While not a “pro” with Online security, have learned some stuff in a short time with just a single browser search. I want to share what I have learned to help others.
in reply to: CONTACTS: NV State Officials #701On the Nevada Legislature link, once the page is open, click the graphic on the upper left. Once the Welcome page shows, click the “NELIS” link top right. This takes you to all the Assembly and Senate bills set for the 2021 session. NPRI, if memory serves, will list the bills and say why they are good or bad.
4 or 5 bad anti-gun bills last session, I expect more garbage this up and coming 2021 session.
in reply to: CONTACTS: NV State Officials #698this link will provide the representative list for your Congressional district, State Senate district, State Assembly and Boards of regents for your address.
Specific to where someone lives in the State
in reply to: Forum suggestions #696Online security
– I can add browser names that are more secure than chrome, search engines that don’t track or track less.
– A discussion of VPNs and TOR could be useful for those who have no knowledge about these things.
– A discussion about secure email may be important for some.If China Joe ends up in the White House, online monitoring may be a thing to be concerned about. If the great reset proceeds, online security will be needed. So, a topic about online security my be useful to some people.
in reply to: New Forum for ham operators and those who want to be #695I had made a prior reply…. had links, but it didn’t post
Youtube has videos to help prep for the test. type something along the line of ” ham technician class ” and pick from the list
There are several books that can be had, amazon or other online seller, to help studysearch for “online ham test” there is one I found and clicked into, did not continue on. Read the requirements for taking the test online.
I am working on taking my license, however I am not proceeding as fast as I would like due to other things happening.
Good luck !
in reply to: New Forum for ham operators and those who want to be #651Every so slowly working on my Technician license.
In the Las Vegas area.
Spent the last hour typing a response, deleted them because I don’t want to sound “preachy”
I don’t believe the mortality numbers because Dr Brix allowed other things to be counted as covid deaths, causing the numbers to artificially higher than they should be.Fast-tracked vax concerns me on a number of things so I will take the “wait and see” approach. Just like anything we see in the MSM, give it time for more info to come out. With the vax I will wait at least a year before I even remotely consider it. I fully expect only “approved” news on how the vax works will be allowed to air. It’s what we already have in social media.
I already view MSM as Pravda was viewed during the Soviet days. -
